The key element in SWM’s solution for the conservation of groundwater resources is the Smart Energy and Water Meter (SEWM). This device is a combination of
The physical structure of SEWM is similar to a digital three phase electricity meter in which processing capabilities, credit analysis, data storage and other enhanced features have been incorporated. This meter is capable of measuring the hydraulic parameters of any water well that is equipped by an electro pump. By integrating a relay in the meter design, the electricity of electro pump can be connected/disconnected to control water exploitation out of the well.
SEWM can be connected to a control center through a wireless network to communicate data to/from the center. It is also equipped with a card reader and an optical port to support smart cards and HHUs (Hand Held Units) as other methods of data transfer.
In comparison with other water meters, SEWM is a smart digital meter that measures both the volume of the extracted water and the electric energy consumed by the electro pump.
The technical specs of SEWM make it unique in a number of ways:
The depth of the well and the type/size of electro pump do not affect the performance of the meter
The installation process is easier and there is no need to cut the pipes to install sensors.
The device is more durable (up to 10 years of life time) compared to other meters with a typical life time of 3 to 5 years.
The maintenance costs are reasonably lower
Each metering point is remotely controllable
The meter is tamper-proof and any tampering attempt will be reported to the control center.
The meter data can be read even during power outage
The meter is not sensitive/vulnerable to suspended particles, air bubbles, pipe slope, and existence of valve, bend or connections.
Smart Water Metering Inc. is focused on the design and development
of smart solutions for the sustainable management of groundwater
Besides its other products, SWM Inc. has invented and patented a new
class of meters called Smart Energy and Water Meter (SEWM) which
integrates an electricity meter, a water meter and a control unit into
a single package at a dramatically reduced cost.
